Copying a Product's Indexed Data to Another Product

Note: This feature is available only to administrators and to inventory assistants with permission to edit product data.

When two or more products should have similar or identical indexed data in one or more areas, you can save time by copying one product's indexed data to one or more other products. You can copy any or all of the following indexed data areas:

For each area of data you copy, you have the option of a) adding the copied data to the target product's existing data or b) completely replacing its existing data.

Note: When a new revision of an existing product is added to your product list, you can configure DolphinRTK to automatically copy one or more of the data types listed above from the outdated product to its new revision. See Configuring Automatic Archiving for details.

To copy a product's indexed data to another product:

Starting at the Product Information page of the product whose data you want to copy (How do I get there?), do the following:

  1. Click the EDIT button at the top of the display.

Note: This button appears only when you are logged in as a) an administrator, or b) an inventory assistant with permission to edit product data.

The Information Administration page opens, showing the areas of product data you can edit.

  2. In the You can also: area, click Copy Indexes.

A message indicates this product is now set as the "source" for copying indexed data.

  3. Find and open the product where you want to paste the copied data. On its Product Information page, click the EDIT button at the top of the display.

The Information Administration page opens, showing the areas of product data you can edit.

The display shows all indexed data types that can be copied from the source product to this product.
